Revenue Controller

Finance - San Francisco

We’re looking for an intelligent, high-energy Revenue Controller to join our San Francisco-based team.  You will be responsible for partnering with our sales team to develop winning sales deals, strategies and processes, operate our deal desk, run daily revenue operations, research and make judgements on revenue accounting principles, and implement scalable systems and processes for growth.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of Gong’s world-wide revenue accounting – including deal structuring, deal desk/exception management & reaching revenue recognition conclusions
  • Create a Deal-Desk capability at the company - helping strike an optimal balance between maximizing top-line growth while driving smart and profitable customer relationships
  • Partner with other parts of Finance and Sales to develop ARR and revenue forecasts to help guide the company and its investment levels
  • Be responsible for commissions accounting, and partnering with sales for developing commission processes, plans, and exception management procedures
  • Research revenue accounting questions and pronouncements (including familiarity with ASC 606) to make recommendations on proper revenue accounting treatments
  • Lead the build out of our revenue accounting systems to support significant anticipated business scale
  • Maintain documented system of accounting policies and operations
  • Organize information and statements for audits and both internal and external auditorsDefine, benchmark and implement operational best practices
  • Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts

You Should Have

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration with an emphasis in accounting or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in the accounting/revenue field, ideally with some experience in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) environment (some experience in public accounting strongly preferred)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation (Netsuite experience preferred)
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, revenue accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including ASC 606
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations
  • Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members
  • Proficiency in, Microsoft Excel and G-Suite
  • Enjoy and Excel in fast-changing, high growth environments
