Gong Credits FAQs

Frequently asked questions about Gong Credits for Gong's Revenue AI Operating System

What are Gong Credits?

Gong Credits are a consumption-based currency for advanced agentic capabilities in Gong.

Two kinds of usage draw on credits. The first is advanced agentic AI: features that work continuously in the background to surface organization-wide insights, and features that analyze and process large volumes of data to generate deal and account intelligence. As Gong expands what its agents can do, these capabilities can now run at significantly higher frequency and volume than everyday Gong AI. The second is Gong Enrich, which brings trusted third-party data (contact details, account information, and market signals) into Gong so your team can improve coverage, keep CRM data cleaner, and act on better context without leaving their workflow.

Both are paid for with the same Gong Credits, so you have one currency and one place to manage consumption. Rather than a one-size-fits-all model, credits mean you only pay for the capabilities you actually use. Everything else, the Gong AI your team already relies on, stays included in your seats and is not changing.

Every plan includes a default credit allocation so you can get started right away, and additional credits are available to purchase as your needs grow.

What features use Gong Credits?

Gong Credits apply to select features that perform heavier AI processing at scale or AI that runs autonomously. This will include:

  • Question-based AI Trackers
  • AI Briefer API Endpoint
  • AI Ask Anything API Endpoint
  • MCP Server
  • Automated Briefs
  • AI Assistant: Deep Mode
  • Gong Enrich
  • AI Data Extractor (coming soon)

The following do not consume credits:

  • Pre-trained (“By Gong”) AI Trackers
  • Single-use AI actions (call summaries, AI Composer, AI Builder)
  • Manual, user-initiated actions (AI Ask Anything in Gong)
  • Gong Enrich data sourced when bringing your own provider key (BYOK)

Admins manage credit-consuming features, including balance, limits, and user notifications. With Gong Enrich, individual users can also consume credits (through the Enrich button or by adding contacts to a flow), and admins control that access through permission profiles and credit limits.

How are Gong Credits consumed?

Gong Credits are consumed based on what a credit-consuming feature actually does, not by the number of features you enable or the number of users on your team.

Today, consumption largely reflects the volume of conversation data Gong processes. As Gong's agentic capabilities expand, the model is evolving to account for the full scope of an agent's work across three stages: what it reads, the work it does, and what it produces.

  • Read is the conversation data an agent processes, such as calls, emails, and web searches. This is the familiar, volume-based part of the model and remains the foundation for today's credit-consuming features. More data processed means more input to the task.
  • Work is the reasoning an agent does to complete a task. Deeper, more complex, or bundled requests take more work than a simple lookup, and that effort is reflected in consumption.
  • Output is the deliverable an agent produces. Everyday responses and actions are included, while richer deliverables may consume additional credits.

Read, Work, and Output come into play as more autonomous capabilities roll out. AI Assistant: Deep Mode is the first feature to use this expanded model.

Gong Enrich follows its own success-only logic. Credits are consumed only when a data provider returns a data point through your waterfall. Gong Credits are not consumed for queries that return no data or for data sourced through your own provider keys (BYOK).

A few more things to know:

  • For features initiated in Gong (e.g., AI Trackers), you will see an estimated credit cost before publishing or enabling, and can adjust to optimize usage. For AI Trackers specifically, this includes a projected cost for both the historical backfill and ongoing daily consumption.
  • For features initiated outside of Gong (e.g., API-based features), consumption is based on the volume of data processed per request.
  • Adjusting filters, like date range or call scope, can reduce consumption.
  • For AI features, credits reflect the data read and work performed, not whether a match or result is found. For Enrich, the reverse applies: you are charged only when data is returned.

For specific consumption rates by feature, visit the Help Center.

Does my plan include Gong Credits?

Yes. Here’s how it works:

  • Every account will receive a default credit allocation based on the number of core licenses in your order form. Credits are pooled at the account level, meaning your team draws from one shared balance.
  • For most customers, the default allocation is designed to cover typical usage of credit-consuming features. If your team is using these features lightly or not at all, you are unlikely to notice any impact on your day-to-day.
  • Your default credit allocation is issued annually at the start of each contract year, and is prorated for ramped seats. Any core licenses that are added mid-contract will also receive a prorated allocation.
  • Application seats (Gong Forecast, Gong Engage, Gong Enable etc.) do not receive credit allocations per seat.
  • Additional credits are available for purchase if and when you need them.

What does the default Gong Credit allotment cover?

Your included credit allocation is intended to help your team explore and test credit-consuming features and see the value they return. Actual consumption will vary depending on which features you use, how they're configured, and the volume and complexity of the work involved.

For more detail on what your allocation covers, visit the Help Center or contact your account team.

Do Gong Credits reset, rollover, or expire?

Gong Credits included with your core licenses (i.e. your default credit allocation) are distributed annually.

Gong Credits that are purchased are issued at the time of purchase.

Note: there is no distinction between default and purchased credits within your credit balance, but usage is visible within reporting based on expiration date.

The expiration policy is as follows:

  • Default credits: expires at the end of each contract year and does not rollover
    • For multi-year contracts: at the start of each contract year, the account will be replenished with the annual allocation based on the number of purchased core licenses active on that date.
    • Credits do not rollover at the end of each contract year for default credits.
  • Purchased credits: expires at the end of the full contract term (i.e. purchased credits do roll over between contract years on multi-year contracts).
  • Promotional credits: expires at the end of 90 days of issuance (allocated with release of new credit-consuming features to active accounts).

Credits do not rollover between contract terms.

How can I track my usage or check my Gong Credit balance?

Account admins can access the following in the Admin Center under Reports > Gong Credits:

  • Real-time credit balance
  • Credit usage report
  • Credit balance report
  • Purchase history

You will also receive email and in-product notifications as your balance approaches depletion so your team always has advance notice.

What happens when I run out of Gong Credits?

There are no automatic overage charges. You will not be billed beyond your credit balance without purchasing additional credits.

When your balance reaches zero:

  • Your existing data and configurations remain intact.
  • Credit-consuming features pause on new data (e.g., AI Trackers pause on processing new calls and emails).
  • Features that connect Gong agentic capabilities to other systems (e.g., API, MCP Server) will return an error indicating the account has no remaining credit balance.
  • You will have received in-app and email alerts as you approached a zero balance.
  • Once credits are replenished, any published AI Trackers will automatically resume processing and catch up on calls and emails from the period they were paused.

Can I buy more Gong Credits?

Yes. Additional credits are available for purchase at any time through your Gong account team.

A few things to know:

  • Credits are sold in predefined bundles and prepaid (i.e., credits are invoiced in full, upfront).
  • Purchased credits expire at the end of your contract term.
  • Self-serve purchasing within Gong and automated top-up options are coming in a future release.
  • If you run out of credits, usage simply pauses until you add more; you will not be charged for usage beyond your balance.

Can I control or limit Gong Credit usage?

Yes. Account admins have visibility and control over credit usage from the Admin Center. Here is what is available:

  • At launch: admin-level visibility of credit usage by feature and user, current and historical balance, and purchase history with expiration dates.
  • Coming in future releases: usage dashboard, feature-level prioritization, direct purchase and automated top-ups.

For details on available admin controls, visit the Help Center.

Feature availability, consumption rates, and administrative controls may evolve over time. The Help Center contains the most current details.

Does this mean my costs are increasing?

For most customers, no. This is a deliberate choice Gong made to avoid raising seat prices across the board.

As Gong's AI capabilities grow, some features require significantly more compute to run. Gong had two options: build those costs into everyone's seat price regardless of usage, or introduce a consumption-based model so customers only pay for what they actually use. We chose the latter.

If your team is not actively using credit-consuming features like AI Trackers, your costs are unlikely to change. Your default credit allocation covers typical usage for the majority of accounts, and you will not be charged anything automatically. Customers who use these features heavily have visibility and control over their consumption before costs become a consideration.

What Gong AI is still included in my seats?

The majority of Gong AI remains fully included in your seats and is not changing. This includes:

  • Conversation intelligence, call summaries, and highlights
  • AI-powered coaching
  • Deal and pipeline intelligence
  • Forecasting and revenue predictions
  • Automated activity capture
  • Single-use AI actions like AI Composer and in-platform Briefs
  • Pre-trained, out-of-the-box AI Trackers

Gong Credits apply only to a select set of features that run autonomously at scale or involve heavier AI processing on demand. For the full and most current list of what does and does not consume credits, visit the Help Center.
